Fayette County Historical Society was founded in 1926.  The objective of the Historical Society is to preserve the past for the future.  Our goal is to bring the Historical Sites of Fayette County together with a common interest in preserving the history of these sites.  By preserving our past history we are giving future generations the chance to learn what it was like to live life in the past, in days when there were no comforts of our day, Keeping in mind that generations to come in the future will look back at our generation now and it too will be history.  We cannot let the stories, the objects, and the lifestyle of the past fade away and disappear.

Contentment Historical Complex is one of Fayette County's popular tourist sites, and headquarters to the Fayette County Historical Society.  We welcome Visitors to come and tour the complex and discover what life was like in the past.  Please feel free to explore the site and learn more about us and the Contentment Historical Complex.

We are in a continuing process of recruiting new members to assure that this complex does not fall to ruins.  We welcome volunteers as well as paid members to become involved.

Fayette County Historical Society is a non-profit organization under the laws of the State of West Virginia.
